Breck

So, my uncle came in from California on Monday. Uncle Chuck!
Then we went up to Breckenridge Wednesday and we are staying until today, Sunday.

It has been a great time.
We shopped, walked around, went to the rec center, stuff like that. It was all fun.

My Thanksgiving was great. Some family friends came up with us so in total there were 9 people, me, my sister, my dad, my mom, my uncle and then the other family, the Smiths.

Our turkey, 2 types of stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, green beans and pumpkin pie were great! You can't forget the Sparkling Apple Cider!!!!! YUM!!

Friday was Black Friday as people refer to it as and I went shopping at about 9:00 A.M with my mom and my sister. We went first to Goods, a really really awesome trendy clothing store, but it also has shoes, home stuff ( candles, stuff to hang from your ceiling, etc.) cards, little do dads, really cute bags, hats, just stuff like that. It is an awesome store.

Anyway, a lot of there stuff is expensive, so we headed over there and me and India ended up getting really cute hats that will count toward our Hannukah presents, but we would get them now. Mine is a Koala and it has big white puff balls on either side and then it has like the koala face and it is gray and the hat goes over your ears naturally so your ears are warm!!

I love it. i think it is so cute!!
If you are interested in buying one of these cute hats ( they come in many animals like dog, frog, pig, coyote, owl, stuff like that, India got an owl!!) you can go to this website:

knitwits.com and you can contact them at info@knitwits.com.
They are really cute and fuzzy and warm. They are made from wool and cotton and stuff.

I hope your Thanksgiving was amazing like mine!
I want to hear all about it. Feel free to tell me about your stories in the comments section!

Also, on Friday it was one of my best friend's birthday, so I just wanted to say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELSEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I just want to wish everyone an early Thanksgiving.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Our Rooms

My sister and I decided to put our rooms together, so my sister and I know sleep in the same room. We moved my bed into her room and her bookshelf into my room, so one room is like a "lounge" and one is the bedroom. It is cool and me and India both like it.

Can't wait for you guys to see it!

Just Stuff...

Hey everyone!

As you know, there wasn't any Sunday School today, but Mom's Yoga Teacher Training was still on. It was snowing sort of hard throughout the day and a lot last night, but not much this evening. Hopefully nothing more than a 2 hour delay because tomorrow I am meeting with Mr. Hane, the 7th grade principal with my LA teacher, Mr. Markham to discuss the recycling project. Also, tomorrow is the play A Mid Summer Night's Dream and I hope we have school because we saw a little bit of it in school and it was very good and funny.

The holidays are approaching fast!
I am very excited for Thanksgiving!!!

My Uncle Chuck is coming to town for Thanksgiving.
I haven't seen him in a while, since last Thanksgiving I think and I am excited to see him.

Also, my grandparents are coming on Thursday for Grandparent's Day at India's school.
Every year, the 3rd graders perform for Grandparent's Day which is were your grandparent can come to school with you and there is a show, and then you can show them around the school and stuff. My grandparents always try to come to it, but this year especially because India will be performing in a play.

I also have a birthday party sleepover with one of my friends from Sunday School.
There will probably be a lot of people I don't know but as long as I have fun!

It is Saturday at like 7:30 to 4:30 on Sunday.
It is a pretty late party.

I think I will stay for the whole thing, but maybe maybe leave early so I can spend time with my grandparents, but they mostly came for India anyway, so it will be quality time with India. Anyway, we will be seeing them in about a month after they leave for Hannukah, so it is not like it will be a while until we see them again, right?

Sunday School Snow Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is Sunday and I just woke up and my mom told me that Sunday School is cancelled because of the snow!!!!!!! I am excited because I don't really like Sunday School.

Mom has her Yoga Teacher Traning today too starting at 1:30.
Wonder if that is going to get cancelled...............

Poll

A new poll will be up soon, but what should it be about???????

6th grade service

Tomorrow morning, there is to be a Saturday morning service, like all Saturdays but it will be led by the 6th grade class. I will be going. It starts at 9:30 and then there is lunch after wards.

It will be ok. Extra practice for my Bat Mitzvah.
Not all people in my class care about learning Hebrew and practicing the prayers for your Bar/Bat Mitzvah an that makes me a little sad. Why not??

Anyway, I will tell you how the service goes.....

A Mid Summer Night's Dream

At our school, the 8th grade is putting on a production of A Mid Summer Night's Dream. My mom, my sister and I are going to it Monday night. I am excited to see the play.

We watched a little under half of the play or something in school and it was really good.
Probably just extra practice for them.

It is not the whole 8th grade though.
You have to try out and if you get in, it becomes one of your exploratories, which are like electives like art, band, drama, choir, woodshop, gym, foreign language, etc.

I am excited to see it.
I will tell you how the play goes!

Bat Mitzvah Project

OK, so I talked to Mr. Markham, my LA teacher and he said that he got a response from Mr. Smith, our main principal and he said that Mr. Hane would be the one to talk to who is the 7th grade principal. Mr. Markham and I are meeting up with him during lunch on Monday.

I am excited to discuss my ideas and interests.
Today, I took home a huge bag of cans and bottles and stuff to recycle.
On my own, with the help of my friends to collect.
It was hard to jam it all into my stupid half locker.

Holiday Break Plans

GUESS WHAT I AM DOING FOR HOLIDAY BREAK????

I get to go to Boston, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut with my sister, my mom, and then my dad is meeting up with us there. ISNT THAT SO EXCITING!!!

I am really excited, because I have never been to Boston, or not that I remember of it, and we get to see lots of family, and friends. We are going to be mostly taking trains to go from Boston to Connecticut and Connecticut to New Jersey, etc.

I am so excited. The trip will be very fun!!!!
What are YOU doing for the holidays?

I would love to hear. Comment or email!

Bat Mitzvah Project

Yesterday, I met with my Language Arts teacher to discuss what I could do for my independent project for school ( my goal in TAG) which could tie in with my Bat Mitzvah Project.

So far, my LA teacher and I have come up with getting recycling bins for the cafeteria.
My LA teacher, Mr. Markham sent an email to our principal, Mr. Smith and we are trying to set up a date to talk to him during lunch or after school.

If that got approved, we could move on to such like school sporting events, and other things like that, and maybe expand to getting sweatshirts and shirts and shorts for our school ( which we already have) but we could maybe make some of them green and out of 100% recycled material, and then maybe if we wanted to go that far ( this would take maybe a few years, but..) we could expand recycling to all D20 schools ( our school district) and that could turn into my Bat Mitzvah.

I want to know what you think.
If you don't even know me as in family or friend, or you don't even know what a Bat Mitzvah is, this doesn't concern you. :)

Hebrew School

Today, I have Hebrew School.........

Academic Challenge Team

At my school for TAG students, there is an Academic Challenge Team and one of my best friends, Kelsey and I have decided to do it together! You create a team and meet once a week with the TAG teacher and you compete in trivia matches and stuff. More info coming soon!

Eloise

My cat, Eloise got into the vent a few days ago.
One of our cats, Daphne can open up the vent with her paw, and Eloise slid down the vent and was in the vent for a long time, or a pretty long time, not sure how long in particular. My dad ended up getting here out by getting her out of a vent in a basement with a screwdriver standing on a chair. Oh Eloise. Now we put weights on some of the vents to at least prevent some of the vents from opening, but hopefully it won't happen again!

Missoula Children's Theater, God Family

Every year, Rockrimmon Elementary, which was where I used to go and where my sister does go, the PTO hires Missoula Children's Theater to come. Missoula Children's Theater sends 2 people, a couple of people, that travel around the country going to different schools putting on the same play for 1 whole year. So far, there has been Snow White, Cinderella, and Hansel and Gretel. This year it is Pinnochio. India is in the play and she is a Pleasure Isle Kid. Her line is "Oh Yeah" which brings back memories of when I was the 7th dwarf in Snow White. I was Tamborine. I carried around a tamborine and I got to say "Oh Yeah" every time I spoke except for one time that I said "Oh No". It was a fun play. Every year, there is a different couple of people that come to schools for 1 week each. They have tryouts for the play on Monday, and rehersals all that week, and they have the final performances on Friday night and Saturday morning. Pinnochio had it's first final performance last night. It was really good and some parts of it were SO FUNNY! The 2nd and final of the real performances is today at 11:00. I am excited to see it again, but it won't be as funny because yesterday one of my best friends, Kelsey went and we laugh together SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!! But I am still excited to see the play again. After the play, we get to go to Squeak Soda Shop, which is a shop where you can get ice cream, and candy, and soda, and there is also real food like popcorn, pretzels, sandwiches, cotton candy, stuff like that. One of my favorite parts is the paintings on the wall. They are absolutely amazing! One of my other favorite parts is the soda. They have a few steps to having your soda. It is not just like " Oh look, here is a Coca-Cola in this big class container at the checkout, I will have this, 1 soda and a cotton candy please." It is not like that. First, you go over to the Smelling station. They have little test tubes that are on racks and the test tubes are labeled with their flavor and you get to decide on your flavor based on the smell. It is cool. Then you go over to the counter where the guy is standing and you tell him your flavor. Then he asks you if you want it to be with Splenda or real sugar and then you get to pick a size and you also get to pick a color, like light blue, dark orange, pink, in the middle purple. It is a very cool place. They also have a Wii and lots of board games including Monopoly, Scrabble, an assortment of Cranium games, BattleShip, stuff like that. It is a rockin' place. I have been there 3 times and I am going there again today in honor of India's play and also because if you are in the play and you go to Squeak on one of the performance days, you get a coupon.

Also, my god family from Durango are coming today because their dad has a conference in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor. I am very jealous because the Broadmoor is the fanciest and the coolest and the prettiest hotel in Colorado Springs, but I guess I am not too jealous, because it is just a hotel, and also because we are meeting up there with them to go swimming and get takout from a restaurant, not a restaurant at the Broadmoor. I am excited to go swimming. It will be the 2nd time since I broke my arm. I don't want to forget my goggles!

World Series 2009 Game 6

Well, you probably heard already but yesterday night was Game 6 of the World Series.
I watched it after I got home from dance, and the Yankees won.

I am happy for the Yankees, but I was counting on the Phillies.
I still absolutely love the Phillies though and I always will! Go Phillies!!!!

The score was 7-3 Yankees.

Lots of people in my grade at school were rubbing it in my face at school because they knew that I really wanted the Phillies to win. Too bad they didn't win, but I am now over it.

Hopefully, they have another great year and they make it to the World Series again, but we can only hope. Anyway, it is not like it is the center of my life. I have much better things on my mind and in front of me, but when the time comes around, why not get involved?

Retirement Home

Today, the 6th grade Choir took a fieldtrip to Viewpointe Retirement Home, which is 2 miles from our school. We went to sing to them there. It was very heart touching and it made me want to cry because I was happy when I saw them clapping their hands and singing along.

It was fun and I am very glad we went there!
It was enjoyable to sing to them and see their faces light up when we sang the songs.
I also felt sad too, because my choir teacher said that most of the people at the retirement home don't get many visitors, and that made me sad. I am glad we went.

After we were done singing, we shook their hands and lots of them said that they wanted us to come back and sing christmas carols for the holiday. I loved that they said that, but you could tell that they didn't get many visitors.

Mixed emotions. Sad, happy, heartwarming, joyful.....

World Series 2009 Game 4

Last night was the World Series Game 4. The Yankees won 7-4. The game score is 3-1 Yankees. The Phillies aren't doing so well. They need to step up their game if they want to win. If the Yankees win tonight's game, it's over. Come on Phillies!!!!

FINISHED Snow Cone Story!!!

Here is my full FINISHED Snow Cone Story. Enjoy:

Nelda vs. Carmen

Natasha Clarke

All right, so you have all heard of The Wizard Of Oz, right? You all know Dorothy and the tin man, but do you know the other side of the story? I don’t mean the evil version but I do mean where Snow Cones vanish forever, Dorothy lends her ruby red slippers and The Wicked Witch Of The West’s 2nd cousin 34 times removed on her step aunt’s side of the family melts. Does it sound familiar? Well, it all started with Nelda Rodriguez and Carmen in the south part of the Land of Oz. Carmen is a girl who loves Snow Cones. She absolutely loves Snow Cones and she gets them every day down at the Snow Cone Palace, a Snow Cone vendor in Hodgkin’s Alley, the official vendor’s street. One particularly warm afternoon, Carmen was skipping along with her pet unicorn Angelina when Nelda happened to be looking out the window of her very nice apartment. I can say so myself because I have been over for tea and biscuits. However, Nelda was watching Carmen eat her Snow Cone when she realized that Snow Cones make little children too happy so she decided to take them away forever. She was planning on ruling the world someday, and without the nasty brats around she would finally be able to make her dreams come true! But how?? Meanwhile, Carmen was enjoying her Snow Cone when she decided that her life was going just as planned. Snow Cones were as great as ever and her unicorn was healthy. Everything was perfect, or so she thought.

Later after Nelda had decided she was going to take away Snow Cones, she started to build a shrink ray. That way she could shrink all the Snow Cone vendors and keep them in a box in her closet with 4 locks. Her plan was coming along well. She was working extra fast for she was going to shrink all the Snow Cone vendors at night so people would wake up to misery and sorrow. She loved watching other people suffer. She was very evil. That following night she put her plan into action. The following morning, all the citizens of her crummy town would wake up to nothing but sadness. The next morning, as the sun was coming up over the horizon, Nelda reminded herself that this perfect day would go to waste in the hands of many of her fellow citizens and she felt 10 times happier, while Carmen decides that it is a perfect day to get a Snow Cone!

Walking down to the Snow Cone Palace with Angelina, Carmen was debating what flavor she would get, but she would soon learn that she wouldn’t need to, and soon it was. If you were there that day, you wouldn’t have missed the racquet. She got so heartbroken that she couldn’t get her beloved Snow Cone. But it was doing so well when she had saw it last! It couldn’t have gone out of business. She had to think things through, so she decided to take a jog. That jog turned into a walk and that walk lead her right to her best friend Dorothy’s house on the other side of Oz. Here is a fun fact for you: Over the course of the year after Dorothy had returned from the Land Of Oz, she decided that she wanted to be closer to all her friends and especially Carmen, so she moved back, and she loves it! Any who, Carmen hadn’t seen Dorothy in ages and was glad to see her. After they had caught up on news and such, Carmen started to tell Dorothy about the Snow Cone fiasco. Everyone knows Dorothy’s magical shoes, right? Well, as you know, back in the day, when Dorothy wanted to go home from the Land of Oz, her ruby red slippers helped her get back to Kansas, so Dorothy (who was a very smart girl, went to Stanford you know) had the best idea to lend Carmen her ruby red slippers to get Snow Cones back! So Carmen thanked her friend and headed back to the other side of the Land of Oz.

Carmen was making her way back home just as it started to rain. Oh perfect, this day is great! The only good thing was seeing Dorothy and getting the slippers. The slippers! She had already forgotten them! All right, how do you do this again? Click your heels together and make a wish. That’s it! She said to herself “I want Snow Cones, I want Snow Cones, I want Snow Cones!’ After Carmen finished her wish, she ran all the way home ignoring the rain the whole way. When she got back to the southern part of The Land Of Oz, she ran right to the corner of Hodgkin’s Alley and Broadway to where she left her unicorn tied to a street lamp. She felt so relieved that she had her unicorn and she had made her wish that she skipped all the way home and went to bed early. At 8:24 the next morning, she went as fast as her little legs could carry her all the way to Hodgkin’s Alley to the Snow Cone Palace which was there! She was relieved and very ecstatic. She went over to the Snow Cone Palace where Rosalind, the annoying owner of the vendor was, but she was so happy and overjoyed to have Snow Cones back, she hugged Rosalind for 3 whole minutes. Rosalind of course didn’t know what was going on, because she had been in a box in a closet. When she finished squeezing the guts out of Rosalind, Carmen asked what happened. Rosalind was very confused and tired, and claimed to have a headache, but still confessed to have been shrunken into a box and put into some evil person’s closet above Hodgkin’s Alley. Because Carmen loved Snow Cones and because she was very dedicated to them, she decided to investigate who took the Snow Cones. From the description Rosalind told her, she automatically knew that it was Nelda Rodriguez. Everyone knew Nelda was an evil person and everyone knew that she lived above Hodgkin’s Alley in 6437, so Carmen slowly made her way to Apartment # 6437. She went slowly because now that Snow Cones were back, who cared about going fast? After about 5 minutes, she arrived at Nelda’s apartment. She rang the doorbell and no one answered so she pushed the door open and walked in. Right away she noticed a big pile on the floor. Now, everyone also knew that Nelda was a very neat and orderly person, so this wasn’t like her so she knew something wasn’t right. Carmen very nervously made her way to the heap of clothes to investigate the pile. She realized that they were only clothes. Now Carmen knew her fairytales and movies, and she also knew that Nelda was related to a movie star, an evil movie star she realized. Now Carmen also knew that her best friend was an actress as well, so piecing things together Carmen realized that Dorothy worked with the Wicked Witch of the West’s 2nd cousin 34 times removed on her step aunt’s side of the family. So everyone knows how the Wicked Witch of the West died right? In the Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West melted and Nelda melted too! She now got it! Wow, this has been a lot for one day! She decided that she would take Angelina home and think things over, but first she had to make a few calls. First, she called the Police Department to investigate the scene of Nelda. She also called Dorothy to inform her of what happened, and to invite her over to her house for tea and biscuits to celebrate getting Snow Cones back but also to celebrate the ending of Nelda Rodriguez. Now usually Carmen and Dorothy didn’t like celebrating the death of other people, but this was an exception. Carmen also called the TV network so they could report that the Wicked Witch of the West’s last living relative died. Now the Rodriguez family was gone forever. Here is another fun fact for you: the Wicked Witch of the West’s real name is Eugnacia Mergatroid Rodriguez. Most people don’t know that either. Nelda and I were friends when she was alive and solid and she had told me what the Wicked Witch of the West’s real name was when we had tea and biscuits together weekly. The Wicked Witch of the West didn’t like her name because she didn’t want to be disrespected for having such an out of the circle name. She felt ashamed, so she shortened it to Elphaba and then somehow went from Eugnacia Mergartroid Rodriguez to Elphaba to the Wicked Witch of the West. Weird, right?

32 years later.

Yes, that is the story of how I defeated the Wicked Witch of the West’s 2nd cousin 34 times removed on her step aunt’s side of the family. Yes, that is really me, Carmen Lopez Smith. I know, my husband Robert doesn’t believe it either after 24 years either. “Grandma C, when is Grandpa Bob going to get here?” chimed Carmen’s grandchildren Rhythm and Willow. Soon children soon. While we are waiting, why don’t we have some Snow Cones?

Tell me what you think!!

My Choir Performance!

My choir performance is on Tuesday!!! Eeep!

World Series 2009 Game 3, October 31,2009 Recap

Last night, Halloween, was Game 3 of the World Series in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cole Hamels, as you know was scheduled to pitch for the game against some Andy guy from the Yankees. They had a rain delay so they started 1 hour and 20 minutes after the scheduled starting time. I went trick-or-treating with my dad and my sister around I don't know 6:30 or something. Not many people were out. We saw more people when we got further down the street. It was nice weather. There was snow on Friday, but it melted throughout the day on Friday and maybe a little bit on Saturday and there were patches of snow here and there but it was nice and not icy or that cold either. It was also a pretty light night. Lighter than most nights recently which was good too. When we got back to the house from trick-or-treating, it was only the 3rd inning of the World Series game. I was very excited to see the game, but soon into the game, I think it was the 4th inning, Cole Hamels got booted and wasn't allowed to pitch for the rest of the game because he was doing badly. I got so so so mad. I love Cole Hamels, and the night he pitches in the World Series, and the first time I had seen him pitch since the World Series 2008, he gets booted and doesn't get to play. I was very mad and you could tell that he was too. Hopefully he gets over it just as I slowly am and I hope also that the Phillies win the World Series, unlike Game 3. The final score was 8-5 Yankees, but at first when I got back from trick-or-treating it was 3-0 Phillies. The Yankees stepped it up and won Game 3. Right now the game score is 2-1 Yankees but I know the Phillies will come around and win it all. I KNOW IT!

Here is a little clip I found on the internet of some interviews with people like Jimmy Rollins, shortstop for the Phillies and Charlie Manuel, the manager or the coach or something of the Phillies. Please enjoy. The URL is posted below.
